Important Legislative News!
There are a couple of legislative bills in the 2008 session that, if passed, will directly impact advanced practice nurses. Please read these bills carefully, and make your views known. In concert with a resolution passed by the American Medical Association, legislation to place non-physician providers practice under the supervision of physicians is being or has been introduced in several states.

The Oklahoma bills are SB 1638 and SB 1523. The attached review was prepared by Dr. Deborah Booton-Hiser who directs the Nurse Practitioner Program at OU. The Oklahoma Nurses’ Association (contact: ona.ed@oknurses.com) is another source of information about the impact of there two bills on the advanced practice of nursing.
